Buffalo Bills Land Former Philadelphia Eagles CB Considered a Bust by Eagles Fans

Buffalo, NY – May 14, 2025 – In a move that's lighting up social media, the Buffalo Bills have signed veteran cornerback James Bradberry to a one-year deal, betting on a redemption arc for the former All-Pro. The ex-Eagles and Panthers standout is reuniting with familiar faces—GM Brandon Beane and coach Sean McDermott—from his Carolina days, in hopes of resurrecting his career after a brutal stretch.

Once a shutdown corner and Pro Bowler, Bradberry’s stock plummeted following a sharp decline in 2023 and a torn Achilles that wiped out his 2024 season. Eagles fans were quick to celebrate his March 2025 release, still bitter about his regression and the infamous holding penalty that helped decide Super Bowl LVII. “Good riddance,” one fan posted on X. “Buffalo just inherited our headache.”

But in Western New York, the mood is more measured. The Bills’ secondary was among the league’s worst in 2024, and with the Chiefs looming as perennial AFC threats, reinforcements were non-negotiable. Christian Benford is solidified as CB1, but depth has been shaky. Bradberry, 31, arrives as both a mentor and a wildcard.

“Bradberry has history with McDermott and Beane. They think he’s got something left,” said ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The Bills may even experiment with him in the nickel or safety spot, capitalizing on his size and versatility.

Skepticism remains. Critics question whether a 30-something CB coming off a major injury can still hang with the NFL’s elite. Still, his 2022 numbers—44 tackles, 3 INTs, 17 passes defended—offer a glimmer of hope.

“This is low-risk, high-upside,” a Bills fan wrote. “Worst case, he mentors the young guys. Best case, he locks down Mahomes in January.”

Bradberry’s signing is a classic boom-or-bust play. But in a season where the Bills are chasing more than just a playoff berth, it's a gamble worth making.
