DeSean Jackson Hints at Coaching Return - Wants to Be Eagles’ Next WR Coach?

PHILADELPHIA — One of the most electric wide receivers in Eagles history may be eyeing a return — but this time, on the sidelines. Three-time Pro Bowler DeSean Jackson recently appeared on a local Philly radio show and hinted he’s ready to give back to the game — possibly as the next wide receivers coach for the Eagles.

“I’ve been thinking a lot about coaching,” Jackson said. “If I came back, it would have to be Philly. That’s home. I’d love to work with the young guys.”

The 37-year-old retired just last year, but his name still echoes throughout the Linc every time a deep ball is thrown. Now, fans are buzzing about what a reunion could mean — not just emotionally, but strategically.

A Mentor for a New Era

The Eagles’ WR room is loaded with talent — A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Parris Campbell, and young prospects. But what they lack is a former game-breaker who’s lived it all: from deep playoff runs to locker room adversity.

Jackson’s presence could bring valuable mentorship to a locker room with Super Bowl aspirations. His specialty? Teaching receivers how to separate, adjust to deep balls, and stay explosive while aging — a skill set few know better.

“He still moves like he could suit up tomorrow,” one NFL insider joked.

Would Sirianni Say Yes?

DeSean Jackson retires as an Eagle, will be honorary captain on Sunday: 'Philly will always be my home' | FOX 29 Philadelphia

Head coach Nick Sirianni values connection and culture. He’s brought in alumni before — including Jason Kelce in a leadership advisory role. Jackson’s addition would be more than ceremonial; it could be a schematic weapon in disguise.

Don’t forget: Jackson was part of the Chip Kelly era, survived multiple regimes, and still had a 75-yard TD in his second Eagles stint at age 33. That kind of football IQ can’t be taught — unless he’s doing the teaching.

Fan Reaction: "Bring Him Back!"

Big Question: How will DeSean Jackson impact the passing game?

The Eagles fanbase wasted no time:

“DJax mentoring Smith? Inject it into my veins.”
“Let him coach the deep ball. Nobody ran it like him.”
“If Kelce’s in the building, Jackson should be too.”

It’s not just nostalgia — it's about legacy, and building the next generation with those who bled green.

NFL Trade Rumors Heat Up as Multiple Teams Target Packers’ Romeo Doubs
Green Bay, September 17, 2025 Romeo Doubs, the Green Bay Packers’ talented wide receiver, has emerged as a hot trade target, with multiple teams eyeing the fourth-round pick as the 2025 season unfolds. With the Packers’ receiver room stacked and a looming free agency for Doubs next offseason, a blockbuster deal could be on the horizon. The Los Angeles Chargers lead the chase, seeking a playmaker to ignite their offense around Justin Herbert. Despite adding Keenan Allen and drafting KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris, the Chargers need a deep threat like Doubs. However, Green Bay’s immediate needs, with Jayden Reed sidelined by a collarbone injury from the Commanders game, delay any imminent trade. The Dallas Cowboys are also in the mix, hungry for a reliable third receiver behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. After trading Micah Parsons, Dallas may sacrifice draft capital to bolster Dak Prescott’s arsenal, as Jalen Tolbert’s inconsistency raises concerns for their postseason push. The Kansas City Chiefs, reeling from an 0-2 start and missing Xavier Worthy (shoulder) and Rashee Rice (suspension), see Doubs as a spark for Patrick Mahomes’ offense. While Tyquan Thornton has shown flashes, Doubs could restore confidence and prevent a dreaded 0-3 hole. The Washington Commanders, fresh off a 27-18 loss to Green Bay, are hunting for receiver help to complement Terry McLaurin, who’s struggled since his extension. With Deebo Samuel, Luke McCaffrey, and Jaylin Lane, Doubs could add separation to their aerial attack. With Christian Watson’s recent $13.25 million extension and rookies Matthew Golden and Savion Williams poised as Green Bay’s future, trading Doubs for draft picks makes sense. As the Packers (2-0) prepare for the Browns, the trade buzz grows—will a suitor land the dynamic receiver before the deadline?
